Commander, we've arrived on Mars!
After many weeks of testing, developing, learning on the go, and issue tracking, we've managed to release the next version of Mars Commander! The game is still in an early alpha state, but it should be playable.
A key highlight is the new level design, as the game now takes place on Mars for real. We've used satellite data from Nasa, which means there's an actual crater on Mars that looks like ours, albeit slightly scaled-up.
Many tasks still remain to be done, which is why we've added a list of Known Issues. This should help those who are interested to better understand what to expect from the game in its current state.
The next release will have much-improved pathfinding as well as two new unit types.
Having said that, what would YOU like to see in Mars Commander? Should the game have an elaborate Single Player campaign, complete with a story-driven narrative and objective-based missions? Or should it offer a Skirmish-based multiplayer experience instead? We'd love to hear your thoughts!
